Photography Effects You Have To Try

Whether you are a pro or a nonpro photographer, you should know which effects to use. These effects are what make people say “WOW” once they see your photo. Yes, you might be the best at taking shots, but if someone next to you is using a better effect, this can make a whole difference. Usually, effects are the thing that makes your photo stand out and provokes a reaction from your audience.

So we will show you a couple of effects that you must try out yourself.

  1. Light Painting

Light painting is one of the most direct effects that you can use to make your photos stunning. Of course, to achieve this effect, you’re going to need a couple of things. You need a camera capable for slow shutter speed, a tripod, and some lighting equipment for a start. Oh, and the best would be to take your shots at night. That way, your effect will be more visual.

Now, when it comes to lighting equipment, for sure, the most accessible one is a light torch. Besides the light torch, you can use your car lights and move an object slowly while aiming at it. Besides these, you can use an LED light stick, glow stick, or wire wool. All these objects emit light. However, since lights are different colors and intensities, you need to choose a good angle to aim. If you’re using wire wool, you can set it to fire on a rope and take a shot of sparkles flying around. Already wowed, aren’t you?

You should move your camera around to achieve a light painting effect. You can use zoom, rotate it, or just randomly move. Whatever gives your photo the best look.

  1. Create Silhouettes

If you want a more dramatic effect, silhouettes are your way to achieve it. You can shoot your subject or object in a light sky and get incredible photos. Here are a couple of tricks to get a distinctive silhouette.

  1. Choose a good location – nothing but the sky in the background
  2. Choose a good angle
  3. Make sure that the light is behind your subject
  4. Check out the exposure – your subject should be a black silhouette in the bright sky

If you achieved this, you would get one of the most dramatic photography effects. Congratulations!

  1. Bokeh

Bokeh is a technique of blur quality. It’s all about the lightened areas out of the main focus. Since the point is for lights to render, not every background will be good for bokeh. Again, you need lights and reflections to make a good photo. What makes the area blurry are the difference in lens aberrations and aperture shape. Here, you can use a larger aperture, a long focal length, or combine both. Whatever you choose, the effect will be stunning. You can use bokeh to make something creative – blurry lights can become lovely background shapes.

  1. Use Lensball

If you want to spice up the things, use lensball. Using this camera tool, you can shoot your shots upside down, reflecting in the glass. You can use this type of effect for portrait photography too, and make it more interesting. The typical way to photograph a lensball is using a macro lens. However, you can try different lenses and find out what works the best.

  1. Digital blending

Here’s something for landscape photographers. Digital blending is HDR post-processing using a manual setting. You’ll need to use luminosity masks in Photoshop. The whole point is to set the light balance across the frame in the most natural way possible and point it out more.

These are just some of the techniques you can try out. If you’re satisfied with the result, start exploring more. Make sure you always have the right equipment and practice every day. Eventually, you’ll become the master photographer for just any occasion.
